IT'S NOW OR NEVER FOR THE CHARGERS VS THE CHIEFS!

                                                   Chiefs vs the Chargers
Reading over some social media posts the past few days by Charger fans. They seem much more relaxed heading into Sundays game then they have been in the past. There is one thing that almost everyone agrees on. This  a very big game for the Chargers!

It's not just Marcus Peters who had a hand in defeating the Chargers 8 straight times. Andy Reid has found ways to exploit the Chargers over a span of 3 head coaches here. Time of possession, turnovers, penalties, and costly errors he has out coached the  Chargers game in and game out. Reid has a way of developing young talent and sucking out as much production as he can out of his prospects. That was a key in Mike McCoy failure here. As the weeks turned into months, the development and progression of  players just never really produced.
.
Andy Reid knows how to teach the QB position. Donavon McNabb, Alex Smith, Brett Favre, Kevin Kolb and Michael Vick are just some of the names he developed. Patrick Mahomes will eventually make the Charger regret not getting him in last years draft. The Chiefs, I believe will have the most talented offense in AFC West. These boys will light up the scoreboard in 2018. I just don't think the defense can keep up their end of the deal this season.

In reviewing Mahomes only start  in the NFL against Denver last year. We have a sample size of what Mahomes is capable of. He was impressive as hell in front of over 70,000 in Denver and with the temperature hovering around 17 degrees. Mahomes went 22 for 35 and threw for 284 yards on the road in the cold.

Some notes for the Chargers.... The defensive line has to stay disciplined. The Chargers are to thin in talent and bodies as Liuget begins his 4 game suspension. Brandon Mebane will start but he hasn't shown that he is capable of applying pressure to the QB nor in stopping the run. Mahomes can move out of the pocket and if he's given time. He's not afraid to take a shot downfield. An example is his very first completion in the NFL. A 51 yard completion to the WR  Harris. He started out the game with a 5 play 86 yard drive for a touchdown. (The Chargers didn't draft him why)?

                                                 Mahomes 1st completetion

The Chargers haven't done anything right in the last few games vs the Chiefs. Bosa and Ingram had 1 sack in the last contest. With Joey Bosa out for who knows how long to be honest. Isaac Rochelle gets the start. You can't stop with the next man up mantra. Issac Rochelle is no Joey Bosa. Rochelle didn't face the Chiefs in the last contest. The Chargers brought in Uchenna Nwosu, Kyzir White and paid Ingram a hefty contract for a reason. PASS RUSH

                                            GET QB PRESSURE
In Denver, when Mahomes was pressured he was 8-16 throwing  for 110 yards and 1 INT. When Denver couldn't get there, he was 14-19 for yards. The longer he is holding onto the ball the longer you are given Tyreek Hill to get open. The comparisons of Patrick Mahomes to Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers is too early. But make no mistake. He has the short memory and the gun slinging attitude of those 2 great QB'S.

PLAY SMART BUT DICTATE THE GAME
Until the Chargers "prove" they can stop the run. Teams who are well coached like the Chiefs will test them early and often. The Chargers lost the time of possession in December 33:21 to 26:39. These are the intangibles that win or lose football games in this league. They need to improve on their 3rd down conversions on offense against the Chiefs. In December they went 4-11 on 3rd downs. That said plus 4 turnovers and being unable to stop Kareem Hunt who ran for 155 yards in their 2nd meeting. The Chargers were also shut out for the final 24 minutes of the game. Keenan Allen had 8 targets and caught 5 passes for 54 yards. Mike Williams played 30 snaps and had 1 target. That throw wasn't even a catch.

To be the best you have to beat the best! The time for posing for endzone pics are over. It is put up or shut the hell up time for this team. I think Mahomes will be fine and will be a much better the 2nd meeting later this year in KC. That makes this games outcome mean even more.
