GATES RETURN AMONG ROSTER CHANGES FOR THE CHARGERS

                                     RIVERS SECURITY BLANKET IS BACK

With one tight end on the roster (Virgil Green) who has even caught a pass in the NFL. The Chargers decided they had to bring Gates back in a limited capacity that works best for both sides. Gates who is 38 years old and his production and ability level has been regressing lately came to terms this morning.

The Chargers released QB Cardale Jones and LB Hayes Pullard to make room. The Chargers who are 17th on the waiver wire did claim LB Emmanuel Ellerbee from the Atlanta Falcons and DT T.Y. McGill from the Kansas City Chiefs.

This ends the Cardale Jones project that never materialized the way the coaches had hoped. Cardale regressed more than he could develop in the system. Last year in the preseason Cardale went 36-61 for 343 yards 0 TD'S and 8 sacks throwing 3 INT. This preseason Jones was 10-29 for 90 yards.

With the two waiver pickups added the Chargers have one more players they will need to release today. The possibilities include WR JJ Jones, RB Justin Jackson and DB Brandon Facyson.

Spencer Pulley was picked off waivers by the N.Y. Giants and T Zack Golditch ( a shooting survivor from the Aurora shooting) was picked up by the S.F. 49ERS.

Teams will continue to maneuver their rosters as they get ready for the 1st week of the NFL season. Monday will start the preparations for their games. The season opens on Thursday night and the Chargers open up Sunday vs the Kansas City Chiefs.
