EVERYTHING CHARGERS MARCH 12TH EDITION

Can you hear that? It's the 2018 Chargers off season so far. It's quieter than a female in bed with Gregg Williams. The NFL season always leaves you wanting more. We spend 8 months looking forward to the season. When it ends we spend another 8 months with opinions on how to get better. The week to begin free agency is like going to Disneyland as a kid. 32 cities have new found hope for the approaching season.

 Fans don't like the business side of football. Letting a popular player go because of his cap hit. Not being able to make the moves you know would make your team better because of this weird thing called a salary cap.

 A retread player but with a popular name gets released and you can count the seconds until a post is made about "Let's get this player."

The Chargers off season is going to go like this. Their going to talk to their current players that their contracts have expired. You can't get into signing a Suh, Brees, honey badger and so on. These are 8-12 million dollars a year guys. The Chargers are around the 3-7 million dollars a year guys. Their holes are huge and they effect the outcomes of NFL games but their holes that can be addressed by being smart.

They had #1 MAJOR objective. Extend Casey Hayward the best player on their defense. It was the first move they made. 3 years $36 million with 20 guaranteed. Telesco finest move was structuring the deal so it didn't have a major impact on the 2018 cap. They have $22 million this year to spend before cuts and restructures that are forthcoming shortly. The average salary cap this year is $32 million. Here where their at, what they are doing and signs of what their thinking.

Free Agency starts Wednesday at 1pm pst. Players agent starting talking to other teams at 9am this morning. Those include Antonio Gates, Matt Slauson, Kenny Wiggins, Korey Toomer, Tre Boston, Jerry Attaochu and Nick Novak. Boston is going to sign a massive contract somewhere but it won't be the Chargers. Gates is tough. You have to make the decision with your brain not your heart. LA Rams could sure stick a knife in charger fans by signing Gates.

 They did sign Casey Hayward  got 3 years and $36 million.

 Nick Dzunbar our special teams god (2018 Kassim Osgood) to a 2 year deal. Nick led the entire NFL in tackles and rotates on defense. This was a major signing.

 Telesco kept WR Geremy Davis to a 1 year deal and tendered WR Tyrell Williams to a 2nd round tender. He will make $2.94 million in 2018

                                                                TRADES
Trades are normally pretty quiet until their done. They are involved in trade talks with Miami RT JuWuan Jones. Miami trying to keep him and Denver is involved in trade talks too. Telesco could be just hiking the price up on Denver instead of a real effort to sign the player.

 RB for the Patriots is one person their trying to sign. A perfect RB 2 to help Gordon and Ekeler. Lewis not only runs the ball but he is a kick returner which would allow Telesco to release Travis Benjamin expensive contract on the 2018 salary cap.

 The scouts were at the pro day of Old Dominion . DT Nathan Shepard and RB Ray Lawry was their target. They took Lawry out to lunch then put him through drills. (sure that was good on the stomach.)

The one that has me excited is the talks with the Eagles DT Beau Allen. Beau is 6'2 and weighs 333 pounds. He is 27 years old and according to Boltsfromtheblue Jamie Hoyle plays a 1-3 technique. I just started watching him but love his personality. He encouraged fans in Philly to throw beers at them as they passed bye during the Super Bowl Parade.

 Just because you can't hear the noise doesn't mean the teams not making noise!

Be patient and we'll examine their moves day by day. The NFL draft is 45 days away. There still 100,000 mock drafts to read. Speaking of which props to Jason LaConfora. He was the most accurate mocker in 2017. He got 8 out of 32.

I talked to Josh Rupprecht the Chargers PR Director today. He said there will be a NFL Draft Party like the one in 2017 at Disneyland. They will release that information in about 2 weeks.
