TRE BOSTON GOING OFF ON THE CHARGERS FRONT OFFICE

Tre Boston is pissed off. I mean really pissed off. Boston agreed to a "one year prove it" deal with the Chargers in 2017 after spending 3 years in Carolina.

The 6'1, 205 pound safety was the Panthers 4th round selection in 2014.  The beginning of his career can be just best described as mediocre. When his salary doubled due to a salary escalator based on playtime the Panthers decided to go with someone else. They had thrusted Boston into a starter and were asking him to be a leader on the defense. They felt he fell short of those goals. Boston was ranked by PFF as just above average in run defense. Boston became a cap casualty. He was released in March of 2017.

IN free agency Boston met with the Steelers, Bills and the Chargers. He choose the Chargers after apparently according to Boston "God wanted him to join the Chargers." Here a link to the story. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/05/17/tre-boston-saw-god-at-a-gas-station-signed-with-the-chargers/

Tre made just $700,00.00 in 2017 with the understanding if he performed he would be considered for a long term deal with the Chargers. But the Chargers didn't seem interested in spending their resources for a long term deal with Boston  The Chargers have not offered Boston what he believes he should be worth.

In LA  he played 1,039 of 1,047 snaps for the Chargers. That is most by any defender in the NFL. He led the Chargers in tackles which tied him  for 5th in the NFL for INT. PFF ranked him as the the top safety in coverage in 2017.

Now he feels disrespected and unwanted by the team that gave him a one year prove it deal. Telesco did draft 2 safeties in the 2017 Draft with RD 4 selection from Miami Rayshawn Jenkins and 5th rounder Desmond King. The only time Telesco has addressed the position since taking over as GM in 2013.

In February in a interview on SiriusXM NFL Radio Boston said, "I want to go somewhere I want to be, but it's a business. Everybody knows how that goes. I want to go somewhere I fit and have a chance to go to the Super Bowl."

At the end of March as free agency began and the FA market nose dived for safeties, he again went on SiriusXM NFL Radio saying this.

He again took to Twitter this week  https://twitter.com/TreBos10/status/983828906703716353.

The referring to San Diego in the tweets will be looked on as a shot at Dean Spanos. I can tell you personally Dean has a very thin skin when he feels he is being attacked or mocked. Tre Boston might have tweeted himself right out of a Chargers uniform.

To be fair to Boston his fair market value is worth a 4 year deal for $34 million and a base annually of $8.6 million.

Safeties with 175 tackles, 10 INT and 3 sacks in their first 4 seasons,..
 1. Eric Berry Chiefs Highest paid safety in the NFL
2. Reshad Jones Miami 2nd highest paid safety in the NFL
3. Harrison Smith Vikings 5th highest paid safety in the NFL
4. Tre Boston No team No Contract

Boston joins Kenny Vaccaro and Eric Reed as the top names left in the FA market.
