MAX’S LAST MINUTE MOCK DRAFT:BOLT EDITION

2018 LA Chargers MOCK DRAFT

ROUND 1| Pick 17
Da’Ron Payne “Defensive Tackle”-Alabama
It is very likely that Vita Vea will be taken off the board earlier than pick 17. Da’Ron is considered by some the next best option after Vita Vea is taken. But for the Chargers, Da’Ron Payne is the best option without out a doubt. He is just what the Bolts need....someone to stop the run. Da’Ron is a roadblock for running backs. Not only will he stop the run, but he will add to that outstanding pass rush that the Chargers had in the 2017 season. With Bosa and Ingram on the edge and Da’Ron Payne coming up the middle is a scary sight. Opposing quarterbacks will have nightmares of this D-line. Payne will bring the pain to the already feared pass rush of the Chargers.

Round 2| Pick 48
Leighton Vander Esch “Line Backer”-Boise State
This will be an early steal in the draft for Tom Telesco. It is defenitly what the Chargers need. There is not much depth at this position for LA and Vander Esch will be a great addition to this small line backer corps. He does it all. He will run downhill full speed to stop the run,he will light quarterbacks up and he is not afraid to drop back in coverage. Leighton Vander Esch is just a flat out monster. He and Denzal Perryman together is something to watch out for.

Round 3| Pick 84
Connor Williams “offensive tackle”-Texas
This would completely solidify the offensive line from left to right. The Chargers are one right offensive tackle away from having one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. This will help protect the almighty Philip  Rivers and give Melvin Gordon the push up front that he needs. Chargers do not need much help on offense but this is a move that the Chargers need to make. They need to complete the offensive line.

Round 4| Pick 119
Shaquem Griffin “Line Backer”-UCF
There is a good chance “Shaq” Griffin will not be selected in the draft yet because NFL teams are still unsure on how he will do in the NFL. I understand that the National Football League is completely different than college ball. But the man has proven game after game that he can flat out play. Since teams do not know how well he will perform then the Chargers can use that to their advantage. Getting a steal in the fourth round and adding depth to their linebacker corps.

Round 5| Pick 155
DeShon Elliott “Safety”-Texas
This would be another depth move. The Chargers are looking pretty good at safety right now with Jahleel Addae and Adrian Phillips who both played really well last season. As we know, you never know what can happen with injuries. DeShon is a great back up to have and can be a great addition to  the special teams. He is not afraid to stop the run and he is great in coverage. The reason he is dropped down to Round 5 is because of his slow speed.

Round 6| Pick 191
Jaylen Samuels “ Running Back”- NC State
Jaylen can create the three- headed monster in the backfield that Head Coach Anthony Lynn has been waiting for. He has a great pass catching ability as he got 76 receptions in the 2017 campaign. With Melvin Gordon’s power, Jaylen Samuels hands, and Austin Ekeler who can do it all it will be something very fascinating to see.

Round 7| Pick 251
Jerome Baker “Line Backer”-OSU
Special teams! Special teams! Special teams! Chargers will look to help out the special teams in this years draft and why not steal some players in the late rounds! Jerome Baker will be another crutch for the special teams which played very poorly last year. In order for the Bolts to make a deep run in the playoffs, the special teams needs to step up this year! Jerome Baker would be a great addition.
