A WAY TO EARLY CHARGERS MOCK DRAFTS

I really can't stand mock drafts. But what the hell else is there to write about in late March. The Chargers are standing pat and waiting until the draft is over to decide on roster cuts and decisions. Until then Tre Boston and Antonio Gates await in limbo. In the meantime here is another mock draft we can chastise after the draft.

I believe the team is interested in taking a QB in Round 1 of the NFL draft if one of the elite QB are there. There are not expected to be there at pick 17th. I do believe Lamar Jackson will be there. IF he is they would be foolish not to take him. Rivers has quietly expressed no desire to play football beyond 2019 when his contract ends at the end of the season. He has told people he wants to go home to Alabama and coach high school football in a job that already awaits him.

For the sake of argument I'm going to assume DT Vita Vea,  LB Tremaine Edmunds, S Derwin James will have already been taking. I love and have heard they really like LB Leighton Vander Esch out of Boise State. I have him filling the hole left in Pittsburgh with the Ryan Shazier injury at pick 28 in the first round.

I know the names Da'Ron Payne and Rasheen Evans is the popular pick. I'm going with what I consider to be the best DT in the 2018 NFL Draft. With Luiget suspension this past week I think they go defense early. The Chargers draft DT if Lamar Jackson is gone.

2018 LA CHARGERS MOCK DRAFT

RD 1. DT..MICHIGAN...MAURICE HURST..........He had 2 failed EKG that arose but the doctors have cleared Maurice of any danger. Tom Telesco loves drafting players with injury backgrounds as well. (Drafting a WR with a broken back last year IN ROUND 1!!!) This year they get one of the best players in the entire draft. Hurst has a suspect ticker in his chest and was sent home from the combine. He been cleared as I said as reported here by Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

RD 2 LB USC Uchenna Nwosu... The team loves this guy in Rd 2. 19 sacks in 2 years he helps pass rush and fills a run stopping need. His stock been rising since the combine.

Rd 3 QB Oklahoma St Mason Rudolph...6'5 and 230 pounds Mason can learn from Rivers for 2 season allowing Coach Lynn to develop his future QB beginning in the 2020 season in Inglewood. I really want Lamar Jackson.

RD 4 RB North Carolina State Nyheim Hines.. Hines solves a couple of holes in one pick. Nyheim is a change of pace RB and returner on Special Teams. At 5'9 and weighing 197 he is lighting fast running a 4.38 at the combine. He averaged 5.6 yards a carry and ran for 1,112 yards getting 12 TD on the way. He returns kickoffs and punts.

RD 5 T Alex Cappa Humboldt St. ...At 6'5 and 299 pounds he is perfect to begin to develop into a NFL starting RT. He does come from a Div II school and will hopefully replace Barksdale and completing this elite offensive line.

RD 6 S Kameron Kelly SDSU...Telesco doesn't value safety so why should we. Hell, we even go with the hometown boy after missing out on Rasheed Penny earlier in the draft. Kelly will replace Tre Boston and his one year wonder ass. Kelly played CB for SDSU but lacks the speed in the NFL. For that reason I'm moving him to safety. He's 6'1 204 pounds and ran a meh 4.6 at the combine. With 68 tackles, 8 broken passes, 3 INT and 2 sacks he played press man corner for the Aztecs.

RD 7 TE Austin Roberts UCLA.. Because someone got to be on the practice squad.

Add the healthy Lamp and Mike Williams broken body it's like the team had 9 draft picks. Hey, wonder how Mike Williams is doing right about now???
